As the 100,000 mile mark approaches I’ve been looking at the 330d with a critical eye. There must surely come a time when the car will cease to look smart and new, and inevitably it will become unreliable. I saw Dominic Holtam’s 320d touring this month, and by comparison I can assure you all that my car is factory fresh! Dominic’s use of gaffer tape to hold on the tax disc is a beautiful touch – a worthy modification for us all.

Given a rub over with a sponge my old hearse still looks the part, and I hope that with its relatively low level of use and being kept in a nice warm garage it’ll continue to please with little cost. It’ll hit the 100k mark before I next need to refuel it, although the Inspection II is still over four thousand miles away. No doubt that cost will nicely coincide with Christmas!
